[ My Dating Sim ] from Kelly's POV

 My Dating Sim

DISCLAIMER! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

My Expectations Before Watching:

I was actually very excited to watch this as I have been really getting into K-BLs lately. The cast really caught my eye and I loved them, although I had never watched them before. I was excited to see how the BLs in Korea have been progressing, and after shows like Semantic Error, I had high expectations on how this BL would be just like any other romance drama. I was simultaneously watching this drama with A Shoulder To Cry On, another K-BL I loved (and will be making a review of soon!)

Overall Thoughts After Watching:

I LOVED IT. Perfect mix of drama and fluff. Not too many misunderstandings or unnecessary conflict that ruins the relationship between the two leads. The teasing in the beginning was not annoying or over done, but the perfect amount to somehow make it sweet. The characters fit the actors so well, and they did a really good job acting too. The extra cookies of them during their high school years are such a nice touch to provide us with background information on their story/relationship and adds so much cuteness >< The game format is also a really cool concept and I think the plot in general was really refreshing and fun. The only problem is its too short!! Season 2 pls!!😭😭 I would do anything to watch this drama for the first time again! (Wouldn't mind rewatching either:))

Feelings on Individual Characters:

Lee Wan (Ian):
HE IS SUCH A CUTIE!!!!! I loved how clueless and clumsy he was and how he couldn't control and hide the fact that he is so in love with Ki Tae (playing hard to get😭). He really stole the show. Lee Jong Hyuk himself stole my whole heart and attention he did such a great job acting and portraying his character. One of my now new favourite actors!

Shin Ki Tae (Eddy):
HILARIOUS. He really did whatever he could to get his man 😭.  While his initial behaviours were all reasonable and understandable, he still made sure to never hurt Wan or guilt him. I love how straightforward he was throughout the series and made sure to clear all misunderstandings with Wan when he got the chance. Lee Seunggyu made the character come to life so well, I can't imagine anyone else playing Ki Tae!

Special Mentions
Jamie played by Park Si Young:
I think her character was so adorable and I loved the way she acted her. Definitely the best fit for the role and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Park Si Young in another drama series again!

[ When I Fly Towards You ] from Kelly's POV

When I Fly Towards You

DISCLAIMER! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

My Expectations before Watching:

I did not watch this drama after it went viral, but actually came across it when it just released. Hence, I did not have extremely high expectations for the drama from all the reviews and viral videos of it. However, I feel like I did expect a high quality drama as the cinematography and overall atmosphere of the drama seemed very well done.

Overall Thoughts After Watching:

It was a great drama. Cinematography was over the top! A very 'feel good' drama. I was hooked. I have a terrible habit of binging when I love a series, and I did just that with this drama. I love watching high school romance, so this was a perfect drama for me. I would do anything to experience watching it for the first time again. I really enjoyed watching the main cp get together, and the friend group is just so wholesome. The second lead cp were just as good and interesting as the main cp. I get why everyone was asking for more screen time for them two! The whole friend group was so healing, and their friendship is so precious. I loved watching the five of them together. It was like I was living the fun high school life with them.

However,  the FL could be quite annoying in some parts of the drama, especially if you're not the type to like cutesy characters.
For example: She called the ML by a nickname the second they started talking. --- I know the nickname is iconic, but they had just met each other, and she already started calling him by the nickname she came up with, which to me is a little weird. (Could just be me 🤷‍♀️)
She is just has a very outgoing cutesy personality, similar to the FL in 'Hidden Love' (I suppose the Chinese like this type of personality). But I find it may have been a bit too much at some points.

Overall, it was a really healing and cute drama, and I  absolutely loved it. It made me cry, laugh, blush and cry again. The pace of this drama was just right, and I never got bored of it or found it draggy. I think its so worth it to watch, (may be slightly overhyped but still) a really good drama I totally recommend.

Feelings on Individual Characters:

Su Zaizai:
I feel like enough was said... A little too cutesy of a personality, but it wasn't too over the top. I actually did not pay much attention to it until my sister had pointed it out. (Maybe I'm just easily influenced.) I have seen people on tiktok comment about this too, but it definitely does not ruin or make the drama any worse, but could be a bit annoying if you're not used to it. She was such a green flag, always taking care and talking up the ML, especially at times when he had low self-esteem.

Zhang Lurang:
Super well written. His family backstory was so heartbreaking, but very well done imo. Yiran (the actor) suited the character very well. It was very cute watching him slowly fall in love with the FL, and get more and more comfortable with their friend group. The friendship between the three boys is so cute.

Gu Ran:
The cutest green flag ever! Love his relationship with Jiang Jia. Typical cheeky mischievous best friend who inside really cares so much for his friends. I loved him in the episode where he was just so clueless to the main cp's relationship 😭 He's such a silly and funny character, really adding a lot of colour to the show.

Jiang Jia:
Took a while to realise her feelings for Gu Ran but wasn't too dragged out. She knows exactly how to take care of her friends, like when she chased Gu Ran away from the main cp so they could have their alone time, or when she took care of Gu Ran when he was sick.. (See how they were all about Gu Ran.... 🤣) Gu Ran and her relationship is literally everything i ever wanted. So playful like best friends! I loved it.

Guan Fang:
My favourite. He is such a pure soul, and has so much love for his grandma and friends. Kind of sad he did not get a love interest, but I guess it shows that we really don’t necessarily need one. Wished he had more screen time during their college years, but I suppose there also isn't much to show considering he has no love interest. He's also really funny, but not in a goofy way like Gu Ran is. I think what really made me love him is his unconditional care and love for his grandma. That really touched my heart. Cried a lot...
